A house was damaged due to a fire early Thursday morning.
Bertha Davidson lived in the house on Hezekiah Lane, off Old Salisbury Highway.
Iredell County Deputy Fire Marshal David Souther said Davidson heard a loud boom of thunder early Thursday morning and awoke to see fire under the floor in the hallway.
Davidson grabbed the phone and ran outside to call for help.
Souther said Davidson thought the house was struck by lightning but there was a lot of fire damage in and around the dryer.
Souther said the house is likely a total loss.
Wayside, Cool Springs and Cleveland fire departments all responded to the call.
