By Chief Andy Webster
March 1, 2021

Dispatched as a residential structure fire to companies responding, Chief 200 arrived to find a full size conversion van fully involved. The fire was not impinging on the house but the residents were standing in the carport. A working fire was declared by Chief 200. Residents were evacuated to the rear of the structure. Statesville Engine 4 arrived and made a good knock on the fire. Engine 2 arrived and checked the structure for any extension. None found. Fire under control. Crews overhauled the vehicle which contained camping gear. Several Coleman gas stove tanks exploded during the fire. It was determined that the fire started in the engine compartment. Van was a total loss.
